On April 29, 2023, we held our 4th Annual Sarah's Great Giveaway, an event for which we collect donations of new and gently used clothing, household items, toys, games, books, small furniture and appliances, and more that are then made available to members of the community to take what they need--all for free.
This event was first held in August 2020 at the Professional Building with about 20 community members and 7 volunteers. Since then, we have increased participation exponentially with 352 community members and 40+ volunteers in 2023. One of the most exciting differences this year was a sponsorship from the Erie Community Foundation who granted us $2000 to use toward the event. We were able to provide t-shirts for our volunteers, popcorn & bottled water to our guests as well as face painting for the kids! This year's event was made even better thanks to support from the Tendto Credit Union who collected donations from their staff as well as new items from the community. Jet 24/Fox 66/YourErie.com were also an integral part of the success of this year's
event by providing promotional advertisement all month long, encouraging the public to donate and to attend the event.
